Adult Day Services

The Friendship Center at Homer Senior Citizens, Inc. is a warm, welcoming Adult Day Services (ADS) program dedicated to providing compassionate care, social engagement, and enriching activities for seniors and adults with disabilities in our community. Our center is designed to offer a safe, supportive environment where participants can enjoy a range of programs that encourage connection, stimulate creativity, and promote well-being. With experienced staff, personalized care plans, and engaging activities tailored to individual needs, the Friendship Center serves as a valuable resource for both participants and their families, helping seniors and adults with disabilities live life to the fullest in a nurturing setting.

Our Goal

Our Adult Day Services program is designed to make every day meaningful and fulfilling for our participants. We create a supportive, engaging environment, whether in individual or group settings, where participants can connect, grow, and thrive. Our program focuses on several key goals:

  • Empowering individuals to reach their highest level of independence

  • Helping participants maintain their current abilities, preventing or delaying any decline

  • Supporting restoration and rehabilitation to promote the best possible functioning

  • Offering much-needed support and respite for families and caregivers

  • Encouraging socialization and connections with peers

  • Serving as a vital part of the local care network and contributing to a healthy continuum of care in our community

Services 

Criteria for Eligibility

Program services include the following:
  • Lunch and an afternoon snack will be provided.

  • Appropriate activities are designed based on the initial individual’s assessment and plan of care.

  • We will assist participants with activities of daily living, which may include walking, eating, toileting, transferring and medication assistance.

  • The health of individual participants is monitored by staff and documented into our electronic medical records.

2024 Rates

  • The Adult Day Service program targets individuals 60 years or older at risk, low income, and minorities as a priority. We focus on serving physically and emotionally frail persons over sixty.
  • 55+ and up who have Alzheimer’s Disease or related Dementia disorder.
Requirements:
Homer Senior Center provides veterans services.
  • Physician Medical Directive required
  • VA Form 10-7078 required

Admission Process

Discounted rates are available based upon income.
We accept Medicaid waiver services.
Rates Effective 8/23/24
  • ADS Services (4 Hours)  $115.83
  • ADS 15-Minute Increments  $8.07
  • Transportation One-Way  $22.49
  • Escort to Personal Activities and Appointments (One-Way) $22.49
Grants help support this program through the State of Alaska and Kenai Peninsula Borough.
